Are you traveling to Washington D.C. soon? Here are a few great places to check out while you are there.
Ben’s Chili Bowl is located on U Street. Ben’s is known for their chili dog and half smoke, each costing $6.99. We thought the price was a little high for what you got here, but it is a historic place with dozens of pictures with past presidents and celebrities who have visited this exact location which we thought was pretty cool.
Meats and Foods is rumored to have a half smoke that is apparently better than Ben’s. Theirs cost $6.50. This was one of the places we didn’t get to on our trip, but we will be trying it the next time we go.
Nando’s is located in Chinatown. This was one of our favorite bites on our trip. The food here was delicious. You can add sauces to your chicken – we recommend either lemon + herb or mango + lime. For sides to your chicken, we recommend either the mashed potatoes + garlic bread, or rice + fries. A combo meal with 2 sides is about $15 per person. You spend a little more per person here, but you get a lot of food and it was some of the best we had.
&Pizza has locations all over Washington D.C. and we ended up eating here 3 different times throughout our trip. We tried the Gnarlic, Moonstruck, The OG, and a Create Your Own. They were all delicious. These are larger sized personal pizzas and cost about $11 each.
2 Sisters Deli has amazing deli sandwiches. This was our favorite lunch spot from our trip. It’s about $8 for a sandwich, chips, and a drink. They also have a salad bar.
There are so many food trucks in the D.C. area. The easiest way to find them is in the center of the National Mall. If you are visiting museums, this would be a convenient place to grab lunch. You can expect to spend around $10 per person at any of the food trucks.
GCDC is a grilled cheese bar that is just a short walk from the white house. They have many options for sandwiches and are around $10 for lunch and $15 for dinner.
Taco Bamba is located in Chinatown and has a cool atmosphere. We really liked eating here. We thought the carne asada was good, but the lengua was even better. It is about $3.50 per taco.
Ted’s Bulletin has breakfast all day and delicious homemade pop-tarts. We got breakfast here but they serve lunch and dinner too. You can expect to spend between $10-15 here.
Trattoria Alberto is a great hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant. This place is perfect if you want dinner someplace a little fancier. They had THE BEST service we have ever received and the best spaghetti carbonara I have ever tasted. This was probably our favorite place of the entire trip. Their plates cost about $20 per person.
I hope these suggestions are helpful for you as you go eat your way around Washington D.C. Comment below and let me know if you end up trying any and what your thoughts were!
